With the next fortnightly price adjustment nearby, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government is expected to increase petroleum prices from November 16, with the hike ranging from Rs9.60.

According to industry sources, the initial summary has been prepared in light of global market trends. Petrol would become cheaper by Rs1.96 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) could increase by Rs9.60 per litre.

Moreover, Kerosene may see a hike of Rs8.82 per litre, and light diesel oil by Rs 7.15 per litre.

Upon the approval by the prime minister, the Ministry of Finance, in consultation with Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), will announce the new petroleum prices on the night of November 15.

It should be noted that if an increase in petroleum prices is approved, then it will affect household budgets, particularly for low- and middle-income families who are already struggling with high inflation.
