Petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to decrease by Rs10.60 per litre for the next fortnight starting January 1, 2026. If approved, this will bring some relief to consumers at the start of the new year amid ongoing concerns over fuel costs.

It is reported that the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) may come down by Rs8.59 per litre, light diesel oil (LDO) may decline by Rs6.62 per litre, and the cost of kerosene oil may go down by Rs8.92 per litre.

If this were to happen, Pakistan’s petrol price could slide from Rs263.09 to Rs252.85 per litre. HSD could be reduced from Rs267.80 to Rs259.21 per litre.

The report highlights that the price proposals will be submitted by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to the Petroleum Division by December 31. After approval from the Government of Pakistan and the Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, the new fuel prices will then be announced by the Petroleum Division.

The last two weeks saw the government decide to maintain the prices of petrol at Rs263.45 per litre and HSD at Rs265.65 after a reduction of Rs14 per litre. The above development has been fuelling speculations of a possible reduction in prices.
