Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and promoting ease of doing business in Pakistan.
He stated that the government is undertaking reforms to support startups and early-stage investors by enhancing the quality of infrastructure and facilitating investment.
During a meeting with a Malaysian business group, Gobi Partners, led by Co-Founder and Chair Thomas G. Tsao, the prime minister drew attention to the government’s efforts through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to provide all necessary facilities to foreign investors.
Noting a strong future potential for economic and trade cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia, the PM said both countries are working on deepening the business relationship.
He also endorsed the recently held Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference, which he co-chaired with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on promoting greater business-to-business relationships between the two countries.
The prime minister welcomed Gobi Partners’ confidence in the startup ecosystem of Pakistan and said attracting international and domestic investment to create a sustainable ecosystem is one of the government’s priorities.
He emphasised that the digital economy, especially fintech, e-commerce and IT services, is an important part of Pakistan’s development strategy.
Moreover, he also stated that Pakistan embraces foreign investments in tech, AI, and innovation sectors, as these areas would help to open Pakistan's digital potential.
The Gobi Partners delegation indicated a strong interest in exploring opportunities for collaboration in the e-commerce and fintech sectors in Pakistan.
