As the nation braces for the winter season, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that winter in Pakistan will arrive by the end of October.

Winters in Pakistan happen to be mostly short yet crisp, and this year's winter seems to be accelerated by the recent rainfall, making nights and mornings cooler than usual, especially in Lahore and other regions. Meanwhile, daytime temperatures were recorded as warm under clear skies.

While the winter season is gradually approaching Pakistan, no further rainfall is expected in the immediate future, according to the weather forecast authority.

However, showers predicted towards the end of October may signal the end of the lingering heat and mark the official arrival of winter.

Meteorologists are warning that this winter could be colder and longer than usual. Early forecasts indicate that strong cold spells may affect much of the country from late December through January, particularly in northern and hilly areas. Central Punjab is also expected to experience extended periods of low temperatures.

Experts have attributed these forecasts to the La Nina phenomenon, a cooling pattern in the Pacific Ocean that affects weather systems worldwide.

Given that the winter season in Pakistan is fast approaching, residents are advised to prepare for harsh conditions ahead.
