The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is rapidly advancing digital transformation processes, with the PTA emphasising key reforms at the GSMA Digital Nation Summit 2025.
At the Asia-Pacific Digital Transformation Forum, the discussion centred around creating dynamic digital economies by leveraging smart policies and innovation.
At the session "The Future of Digital Nations: Regional Policy Priorities", PTA Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman discussed how Pakistan has prepared for the future.
"PTA is making significant policy reform to show telecom companies Pakistan is open for investment and enable them to launch new technology services such as 5G, IoT, and cloud."
One significant outcome discussed was the repeal of Pakistan's Right of Way (RoW) policy, which has enabled telecom providers to lay out fibre and provide connectivity across a bigger area, giving Pakistan a transformation point, to innovate and improve its digital infrastructure.
PTA chairman conveyed the importance of collaborating with industry partners, the government, and global experts to build momentum for digital access and foster innovation.
"Real policies that will enable growth and inclusion are needed to deliver real change, and PTA is looking at long-term success with the integration of digital tools in Pakistan," he said.
The summit offered a chance for countries in the region to share ideas and push forward with digital goals. PTA’s participation showed Pakistan’s commitment to becoming a fully connected digital nation.
