Preparations are underway to introduce a new electric bike scheme for teachers in Punjab, under which educators will be able to obtain an e-bike by paying only an initial instalment, while the remaining payments are expected to be facilitated at the institutional level.

The announcement was made alongside the Punjab Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, who said that the program aims to reduce the travel woes of teachers and help them save money due to increasing transport fares.

Additionally, the provincial government also plans to proceed with a separate plan to offer free scooters to female teachers as a special relief measure, as directed by the chief minister.

If implemented, the plan will apply to female teachers working in the public sector who fulfil the proposed service conditions.

According to government officials, these proposals are under review, and further information will be offered regarding eligibility and athe pplication process once approval is acquired.
