In a major step toward modernising public transport in South Punjab, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the region’s first-ever electrobus service in Dera Ghazi Khan. As part of the first phase, 101 eco-friendly electrobuses have been allocated to the Dera Ghazi Khan division.

According to the chief minister, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, and Taunsa will also see the introduction of electric buses.

"It is a matter of joy for me to be among you. Where there is the seat of Lahore, there will also be the seats of Bahawalpur, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan," she stated in Saraiki.

Maryam Nawaz outlined the project as a gift for women, people with disabilities, students, and regular citizens.

She gave a bus conductor a reward and told him to give passengers with disabilities extra attention. To demonstrate her faith in the service, the CM also took the recently introduced bus.

In order to support the development of South Punjab, the Chief Minister promised billions of rupees, stressing that funds would be allocated impartially.

She asserted, "Dera Ghazi Khan will not be left behind, even if billions are spent." "No individual shall be permitted to compromise the rights of the people of Punjab."

In order to improve governance, the South Punjab Secretariat will hold monthly meetings to directly address people's complaints in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, and Multan.

This programme seeks to improve administration's responsiveness and accountability while bringing government services closer to the people.

An important step in enhancing public transit and encouraging environmental sustainability in the area is the introduction of the electric bus service.
