The Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is set to launch Rawalpindi's new electric public bus service on October 15 and change the way people travel around.
While easing traffic congestion, this state-of-the-art, reasonably priced, and environmentally friendly transportation facility promises to give citizens a respectable and effective form of public transportation.
In order to give citizens a dependable and comfortable way to commute, 87 air-conditioned electric buses will be gradually deployed along four routes.
The first phase will provide residents with a practical and effective means of transportation by spanning the route from Rawat to Motorway Chowk. The fare has been set at a reasonable price of Rs20 per ride, and senior citizens and students 60 years of age and older are eligible to travel for free.
"The new bus service aims to provide a dignified and efficient mode of public transport while helping to reduce traffic congestion in the city," said President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Rawalpindi Division Malik Abrar Ahmad.
The Punjab government's determination to make the province a modern, affluent, and welfare-focused area is demonstrated by the introduction of the electric bus service.
