Samsung is considering to add a 24MP photo mode to its default camera app, a feature currently available in the Expert RAW app. The move could give Galaxy S25 users more control over image quality and file size, much like Apple’s iPhone 15 series, which shoots at 24MP by default.

Currently, a Samsung representative on the company's Korean Community forum has confirmed that the brand is exploring bringing this feature into the main camera app. This comes after several users requested the option on the forum.

Shooting in 24MP offers a balance between a 12MP pixel-binned image and a full-resolution 50MP or 200MP photo. It provides better detail than a 12MP shot while keeping file sizes smaller than full-resolution images.

Moreover, Samsung only offers the 24MP Expert RAW option for the primary camera. However, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra featuring a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP 3x telephoto lens, the company could extend the 24MP mode to these cameras as well.

If Samsung integrates this feature into the main camera app, it would enhance the photography experience for Galaxy users and align with Apple's approach.

While there’s no official timeline for its release, this update could make Samsung’s camera app even more competitive. Stay tuned for more updates on Samsung’s camera improvements.
