In line with Pakistan's digitalisation efforts underway, Sindh's educational boards are set to implement an innovative e-marking, scanning, and QR code system for the 2026 matriculation and intermediate exams.

This new system will go live on December 4 in Karachi, with the aim of modernising the examination evaluation process, which, as a result, will enable multiple assessments per paper and quick result processing.

The e-marking initiative for Sindh board exams is part of a broader initiative by Pakistan's education boards to enhance transparency, minimise manual errors, and improve efficiency in examinations.

The Federal Education Board will provide the necessary software for e-marking, scanning, and QR code generation, paving the way for a smooth digital transition in the upcoming exams.

A high-level committee, known as the Digitisation and Technology Implementation in Education Boards, has been established to supervise this initiative.

Key features of the upcoming system to digitise board exams in Sindh include:

  • Each exam paper will have a QR code for scanning
  • Different educators will assess different sections of the same paper
  • Teachers will be restricted to marking only one question per paper
  • Online enrolment, digital results, and certificate verification systems will also be introduced

Ahead of the full-scale implementation of the system concerned, training for staff from all Sindh boards is scheduled in Islamabad next week to facilitate the full digitalisation of the evaluation process.
