The Sindh police on Monday revealed plans to expand faceless e-challan system to other districts across the province following its initial success in Karachi, enhancing traffic enforcement.

Karachi's traffic control has been eased by the new digital system, which issues challans without requiring roadside interaction. Senior officials briefed Inspector General (IG) Ghulam Nabi Memon on the project's development during a meeting at the Central Police Office, Karachi.

In areas like Thatta, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Larkana, enforcement cameras and the Traffic Road Accident and Control System, or TRACS, will be implemented.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic Police Syed Peer Muhammad Shah said that divisional personnel have verified that TRACS technology and cameras are prepared for installation.

Without requiring direct communication between drivers and traffic officers, the system may electronically generate challans for traffic infractions such as improper registration, missing license plates, and other offenses.

To ensure the system runs well, service centres have been set up in each of the chosen districts, and staff training sessions will shortly start.

By utilising technology to increase road safety and lessen traffic congestion, the extension seeks to improve traffic management and enforcement throughout the province.
