The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has rolled out a new online registration system for private clinics and hospitals across the province to make registration easy and fast for healthcare providers.

Previously, registration was a laborious and painful manual process where physical paperwork and travelling to the SHCC took place. The new platform just digitised that process.

The online registration eliminates time, commitment, and bureaucracy. The introduction of the system was part of a larger goal to improve healthcare services through the Competitive and Livable City of Karachi (CLICK) Project, which is well-supported by the World Bank.

The system was introduced after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between SHCC and Sindh Business One Stop Shop (SBOSS).

Interestingly, the new system allows private hospitals and private clinics to apply for licences anywhere in Sindh using the internet.

During the launch, SHCC Chairman Dr Khalid Hussain Sheikh explained that the goal is to simplify healthcare regulation. "With the CLICK project director's support, we are finally moving from a manual to a completely digital process," he said.

SHCC CEO Dr Ahsan Qavi Siddiqui explained that the commission had also developed an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to manage internal processes more efficiently.

“About 80% of our digital shift is already complete,” he added.

Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, a member of SHCC’s Board, said the goal is to help healthcare providers follow the rules without extra hassle while also protecting patients' rights.
