The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) announced a revised winter gas supply plan, devised to provide consumers with consistent, high-pressure gas during peak times to address seasonal demands.

Effective from November 2024, the new schedule allocates specific time slots for full-pressure gas availability, allowing households to plan cooking and heating around these intervals.

Under SNGPL’s updated timetable, gas will be available at full pressure during three designated periods:

  • From 6am to 9am in the morning
  • From 12pm to 2pm in the afternoon
  • From 6pm to 9pm in the evening

SNGPL representatives noted that the changes were implemented following government directives, with the company aiming to improve service reliability across its operational regions. “The adjustments were made in compliance with government directives,” they stated, adding that consumers in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and other areas would benefit from a full-pressure supply during these time frames.

During winters typically a sharp rise in gas demand is observed, with households relying heavily on it for heating and hot water. This seasonal surge, compounded by shorter daylight hours, often strains supply systems, affecting consistent delivery.

SNGPL's revised plan is expected to help mitigate these challenges, ensuring a more stable supply to its over 7.22 million customers during winters. By targeting high-pressure supply during peak hours, the company aims to ease demand pressures and provide a more reliable service to households throughout winter.
