Tesla is offering a one-month free trial of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) system in China The offer between March 17 and April 16 grants participating Tesla owners the use of enhanced driver assistance features at no additional expense.

Tesla has been experiencing declining sales in China and around the world. The company hopes to generate interest and boost sales by allowing customers to try out FSD for free. The system allows cars to drive on city streets, intersections, and highways, making driving easier.

However, Tesla emphasises that FSD is not fully autonomous and still requires driver supervision.

What’s included in FSD trial?

During the trial, Tesla’s FSD system will allow vehicles to:

  • Exit highways
  • Navigate intersections
  • Follow traffic signals
  • Make lane changes based on road conditions

Tesla’s cabin camera monitors driver attentiveness to maintain safety. The company reminds users that FSD is a Level 2 driver assistance system, meaning drivers must stay alert and keep their hands on the wheel.

Tesla’s safety warnings

Tesla cautions that FSD will not function perfectly in every real-world scenario. Weather and road conditions can impact performance, and drivers should be prepared to take control at any moment. The company emphasises that users are legally liable for any traffic infractions or accidents while operating the system.

How to get Tesla FSD free trial?

To check eligibility, users should update their Tesla map version (CN-2025.8-15218) and software version (2024.45.32.12). After the trial, Tesla offers FSD for 64,000 yuan ($8,900), with a discount for Enhanced Autopilot users.
