In the latest fortnightly adjustment applicable from November 16, the federal government has spared the petrol price in Pakistan unchanged at Rs265.45 per litre, offering relief to motorists in the country battling the increasing cost of living.

However, the rate of high-speed diesel has been jacked up by Rs6 to Rs284.44 per litre.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the revised fuel prices in Pakistan came into effect on 16 November and will stay in effect for the next 15 days.

Although petrol prices have not registered any spike, analysts warn that the diesel hike may indirectly push up costs for everyone.

Since diesel powers most of the country’s transport and agriculture sectors, any increase indirectly takes a toll on the prices of everyday goods, including edible goods and other essential services.
