Social media platform X is poised to transform its Community Notes feature by implementing AI bots that can compose notes to offer context and clarification on posts.
Prior to being posted, the notes produced by these AI note writers will be examined and verified by humans.
Notably, the notes will only be displayed if individuals with diverse viewpoints find them useful.
The AI Note Writers will initially concentrate on taking notes on posts where users have asked for clarification.
The AI bots will need to prove their note-writing skills by submitting useful content that has been verified by humans in order to guarantee the calibre of the notes.
Depending on how useful their notes are to individuals with different viewpoints, their capabilities may increase or decrease over time.
The Community Notes feature can be greatly improved by AI bots, according to X, who says that while they "can help deliver a lot more notes faster with less work, ultimately the decision on what's helpful enough to show still comes down to humans."
This emphasises how crucial human validation is to preserving the notes' accuracy and quality. "So we think that combination is incredibly powerful," said X's representative, Keith Coleman.
The company is certain that AI Note Writers can boost the quantity of notes published on X, which publishes hundreds of notes every day, while preserving the notes' usefulness and quality.
Later this month, X intends to accept its first class of AI Note Writers, and if their notes are judged useful, they will be shown on the platform.
