Xbox's Developer Direct will next week showcase four games, with the identity of the fourth game currently a mystery.
The mysterious title is hinted to be a new entry in a legendary Japanese IP. Some possibilities for the mystery game include Resident Evil, Persona, and a new Ninja Gaiden.
Xbox's Developer Directs began in January 2023 and provided a platform for some of its studios' developers to speak directly to Xbox fans about their upcoming games.
Last January's Direct saw Xbox spilling the beans on Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and even featured an appearance from Square Enix, which showed off Visions of Mana.
Xbox Developer Direct game announcements
However, Xbox is back again with its third Developer Direct, going live next Thursday, January 23. Xbox has confirmed the following three titles fans can expect to see in 2025 and learn more about: Doom: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, and Sandfall Interactive's impressive-looking turn-based RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Additionally, Xbox confirmed that the fourth mysterious game will be revealed at the show. Since the event's announcement, Xbox fans have been speculating about what that fourth game could be, with some hoping for Fable, The Outer Worlds 2, or even Gears of War: E-Day.
Reportedly, recent leaks suggested that the fourth mystery to be revealed at Xbox’s Developer Direct is a “new entry in a legendary Japanese IP with decades of history,” which would be from Xbox’s first-party studios.
Moreover, several other games like Resident Evil 9 and Persona 6 are both rumoured for upcoming releases, along with a new Ninja Gaiden game in line with Xbox's historical ties to the franchise.
