Xbox Game Pass subscribers can now play Far Cry, New Dawn, the first game added to the service in February 2025. This open-world shooter was originally released in 2019 as a spin-off of Far Cry 5, featuring a post-apocalyptic world with intense combat, exploration, and RPG elements.

The game, developed by Ubisoft Montreal, received a variety of reviews, leaning towards positive. Critics appreciated its vivid setting and action-packed gameplay but noted weaknesses in its characters and RPG mechanics. It has a 73% average score on OpenCritic and a 'Mostly Positive' rating on Steam.

Xbox Game Pass expands its Far Cry Collection

With Far Cry New Dawn's arrival, the Xbox Game Pass now offers three Far Cry games, Far Cry 5, Far Cry 6, and New Dawn. The latest addition is available across Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, but it is not included in the XGP Core tier.

Players can unlock up to 50 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore points, making it a great pick for achievement hunters.

More Xbox Game Pass Games coming soon

The next confirmed game for Xbox Game Pass in February is Avowed, an RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, launching on February 18. Unlike Far Cry New Dawn, which is an older release, Avowed will be a day-one addition but won't be available on the Standard tier.

Microsoft is expected to announce more February additions soon, possibly later today, on February 4. Meanwhile, the service will also remove seven games on February 15, including Tales of Arise and A Little to the Left.
