YouTube TV has officially reached a deal to continue offering Paramount content, putting an end to concerns that channels like CBS, CBS Sports, and Nickelodeon might disappear from the streaming service.
YouTube TV warned subscribers that it might lose access to Paramount channels, but the company has now confirmed that a new agreement has been made. This means that CBS, Showtime, Paramount+, and BET+ will remain available without interruption. The announcement was shared via YouTube TV’s official blog and social media accounts.
YouTube TV’s subscription concerns
Earlier this week, YouTube TV mentioned that if Paramount content was unavailable for a long period, it would offer users an $8 credit. However, after extending talks, the company successfully renewed its partnership with Paramount.
Meanwhile, YouTube TV has not revealed specific details about the deal, it did say that any potential price changes would be communicated to users before implementation.
YouTube TV recently raised its monthly subscription fee to $82.99 in December. Similar price hikes have been seen across other streaming platforms like Hulu Plus Live TV, Sling TV, and Fubo.
The increasing costs are mainly due to streaming services competing with traditional cable TV while content providers seek ways to increase revenue.
What’s next for YouTube TV?
Since CBS and Showtime from Paramount will continue on YouTube TV, the service remains a solid choice for live TV streaming.
However, with streaming prices on the rise, many users are concerned about future rate hikes. YouTube TV has assured its subscribers that any price adjustments will be communicated in advance.
