
Asus has officially confirmed the global release of its Zenfone 12 Ultra on February 6 at 2:30pm Taipei time (12 PM IST). The handset is set to bring "a new era of mobile photography excellence" with artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features designed to elevate both editing and imaging experiences.
While the company has yet to reveal official details about the phone’s specifications, several leaks and rumours have already sparked significant interest. The Zenfone 12 Ultra is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, promising to deliver top-tier performance.

Additionally, it is rumoured to house a massive 5,800mAh battery with 65W wired charging and 15W wireless charging capabilities, ensuring extended usage and swift recharging.
For optics, the handset is likely to feature a triple rear camera system, including a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700 primary sensor, a 13MP ultra wide-angle lens, and a 5MP macro camera. A 32MP front-facing camera, making it a substantial choice for the photography enthusiasts.
The display is another highlight, with reports suggesting a 6.78-inch Samsung AMOLED LTPO screen featuring Full HD+ resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and Always-On display support, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for added durability.
Many of these specifications are similar to the Asus ROG Phone 9, launched in November 2024. The ROG Phone 9 shares a similar processor, display technology, and battery configuration. It starts at EUR 1,099 (approximately INR 98,000) for the 12GB + 256GB variant.
In reference, the Zenfone 11 Ultra, which launched with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a 5,500mAh battery, and a 50MP Sony IMX890 camera, the Zenfone 12 Ultra marks a significant upgrade. The Zenfone 11 Ultra was priced at EUR 999 (approximately INR 90,000).
