HoYoverse is returning to unveil Zenless Zone Zero's Version 2.1 in a livestream event on Friday, July 4, at 19:30 (UTC+8). The update is titled "The Impending Crash of Waves," and it will continue from Season 2: Chapter 1 with some exciting new content, new characters, and quite possibly some other surprises.
In case you're not aware, Zenless Zone Zero is a high-speed action RPG with stylish combat mechanics, explorative storytelling, and many unique and visually interesting characters.
Set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop filled with strange creatures called Hollows, players utilise a team-based battle system with unique faction benefits to do battle against their foes. It's already one of HoYoverse's flagship titles, along with Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.
Version 2.1 is expected to showcase two new playable characters: Alice Thymefield and Ukinami Yuzuha from the newly teased faction Spook Shack, alongside story developments. While both characters previously existed within the game, Version 2.1 will likely showcase their skill abilities and their backstories.
In addition, players are hoping to get away with some more background and character development from the power sisters Yixuan and Yijiang, who had a rough path in the last update. Version 2.1 could tie into the tragic nature of that story.
HoYoverse has also teased a “mysterious surprise” during the stream, which has sparked speculation about free rewards or possibly a beach-themed zone and summer event. As always, viewers can expect limited-time redeem codes for in-game items during the broadcast.
