A deal has been finalised between Amazon and Games Workshop, the maker of Warhammer 40,000 —a popular wargame.

Warhammer, the miniature wargame, is a simulation of a battlefield embroiled with armies of miniature painted models.

As part of the contract, Amazon will feature some of the most famous faces on the screen, with Henry Cavill — the British actor best known for Superman — signing up to be the executive producer and appear in the project, as per a BBC report.

The deal hands Amazon the rights to hire talent, and to make film and TV shows.

"Now comes the fun part: working out all the creative details with our partners and getting the first script written and into production. What Warhammer 40,000 stories should we tell first? Should we kick off with a movie or a TV show? Both?!" Games Workshop said in a statement.

Following the signing of the agreement, the shares of the company registered a significant boost.

A year ago, the game developers from Nottingham initiated a potential collaboration with the streaming giant Amazon Prime Video.

As announced on the company's website, the creative minds at the game studio are assembling screenwriters to take the Warhammer universe from the gaming world to the screens.

What Amazon will make for Games Workshop

As part of the deal, Games Workshop has granted the go-ahead for the production of Warhammer 40,000 films and TV series.

With the agreement, Games Workshop and Amazon have collaborated for a year, to establish "creative guidelines" that will shape the narrative and visual direction of the upcoming films and series.
