Apple's highly anticipated "Awe Dropping" event 2025 is mere hours away, scheduled to kick off today. The event will be livestreamed globally on Apple's official website, YouTube channel, and Apple TV app, allowing millions to witness the unveiling of the latest innovations.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), ShrimpApplePro shared a table of the Chinese regulatory database, showing alleged battery capacities for the iPhone 17 series comprising iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The database indicated that the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be available with and without a physical SIM card tray, depending on the country of sale.

iPhone 17 series expected battery

Meanwhile, Apple’s thinnest iPhone might have only one battery size, as only a single capacity for that device has been discovered.

However, Apple has removed the SIM card tray in the US starting with the iPhone 14 series, but it has simply replaced the tray with a piece of plastic inside those devices.

Below is a detailed breakdown of what you can expect from alleged battery capacities at the iPhone 17 launch event.

Model With SIM card tray Without SIM card tray

YoY increase (Maximum)

iPhone 17 3,692 mAh 3,692 mAh

+3.7%

iPhone 17 Air 3,036 mAh 3,149 mAh

iPhone 17 Pro 3,988 mAh 4,252 mAh

+18.7%

iPhone 17 Pro Max 4,823 mAh 5,088 mAh

+8.6%

iPhone 17 Pro is expected to get a significant battery boost, with a nearly 19% increase in capacity over the iPhone 16 Pro.

As rumoured, the iPhone 17 Pro Max might become the first iPhone model to surpass the 5,000 mAh battery capacity mark. With a 5,088 mAh battery, the device would have around an 8% larger battery compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

On the other hand, the ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to have around a 3,000 mAh battery capacity, which is on the lower side for an iPhone. However, the device will benefit from Apple's power-efficient C1 modem for cellular connectivity.
