Apple TV+ has finally confirmed that the streaming service will be free for all users this weekend, from January 4 to 5, 2025. During this period, customers can stream all Apple Originals without subscribing to them.
This free weekend promotion aims to boost visibility and awareness of the service as the new year begins, particularly with highly anticipated launches, such as Season Two of Severance around the corner.
To take advantage of this promotion, users can simply launch the Apple TV app on a supported platform this weekend and enjoy complete access to the expanded Apple TV+ library.
This marks the first time the Cupertino-based tech giant is hosting a free, all-you-can-watch Apple TV+ event. Previously, Apple has offered free trials to new subscribers to the first episodes of select shows to offer a preview experience before encouraging subscriptions.
Currently, Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month, allowing up to six members of a Family Sharing group to enjoy content at this price. Additionally, it is included in several Apple One subscription bundles, which start at $19.95 per month and combine several Apple services for a bundled discount.
Apple TV+ enters 2025 with a more comprehensive catalogue than ever, featuring over 250 original TV shows and movies. However, it continues to face challenges in establishing a strong viewership base, as it competes against larger, more leading streaming platforms such as Netflix and Disney+.
