A new and clever scam has surfaced in the Saddar Division of Lahore, where a scammer was captured on CCTV trapping ATM cards with super glue and stealing money from unwary bank customers.
Police reports state that the suspect sticks glue inside the ATM card slot, which makes the card stuck.
The con artist shows up pretending to help when a customer struggles to get their card back, and then he tricks the customer into disclosing their PIN code during the scam.
The victim is left financially vulnerable and powerless with a blocked card after the scammer obtains the PIN and uses another ATM or device to take money out of their account.
Three police stations in the Saddar Division have received reports of the incidents, which has led the authorities to file a formal complaint and begin a comprehensive investigation.
The police are working hard to find the suspect and stop these evil activities by using CCTV footage and technical resources.
People are cautioned to use ATMs with caution and to be suspicious of strangers who offer to help them because of this development.
Instead of depending on strangers for help, it is advised to visit the bank branch or get in touch with customer service if a card becomes stuck.
To help stop this scam from happening again, the police are asking the public to be on the lookout and report any suspicious activity.
