The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has approved Bazaar Technologies’ acquisition of Wemsol, marking its entry into the fintech sector.

This initiative will expand Bazaar beyond e-commerce and wholesale distribution, helping small businesses with digital payment solutions.

Bazaar Technologies and Wemsol acquisition

Bazaar Technologies, founded in 2020 by Hamza Jawaid and Saad Jangda, is a leading B2B e-commerce platform in Pakistan. It helps small retailers and businesses procure inventory easily. The company has raised over $100 million from global investors like Tiger Global, Dragoneer Investment Group, and Indus Valley Capital. With operations in multiple cities, Bazaar has changed how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) manage inventory and supply chains.

Bazaar Technologies will either directly or through its subsidiary, Beta Holding Private Limited (BHPL), carry out the acquisition. Wemsol is a key fintech company operating under the brand Keenu.

It provides point-of-sale (POS) solutions, digital wallets, and payment gateway services. Many merchants use Keenu’s services to support cashless transactions in Pakistan.

With this deal, Bazaar Technologies aims to integrate fintech services into its platform, making digital payments easier for SMEs. The fintech sector in Pakistan is growing rapidly, and this acquisition positions Bazaar to offer more financial solutions to businesses.

The CCP review found no direct competition concerns since Bazaar operates in e-commerce, while Wemsol focuses on digital payments. The merger, which will combine procurement, financing, and fintech services, is expected to create new opportunities for retailers.
