In a major diplomatic development, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to exclude the visa requirement for holders of official and diplomatic passports.
During the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Ministerial Commission, this decision was made, where the two countries signed three major Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). The meeting focused on improving bilateral cooperation in different fields, including trade, investment, banking, healthcare, education, and energy.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the two nations also signed MoUs to create a joint task force aimed at facilitating visa exemptions and promoting investment opportunities.
One of the key highlights of the session was the agreement on a visa waiver, reflecting the strengthening ties between the two friendly nations.
Speaking at the event, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar described the meeting—held after a 12-year gap—as “highly productive and forward-looking.” He noted that the agreements signify a shared commitment to deepen institutional cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations.
In addition, Dar announced that an agreement on artificial intelligence and the digital economy was also reached, which is expected to open new avenues of economic collaboration between Pakistan and the UAE in the future.
This diplomatic step not only spotlights the growing trust and strategic collaboration between Pakistan and the UAE but also signals a shared vision for regional stability, investment growth, and technological advancement.
