Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Wednesday announced the resumption of direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi later this month after 14-year gap.

Bangladesh's national flag carrier, in a statement, stated that the Dhaka-Karachi-Dhaka service will start on January 29. Flights from Dhaka to Karachi will operate twice a week, departing at 8pm and arriving at 11pm on Thursdays and Saturday.

The return flights from Karachi to Dhaka will depart at 12:01am and arrive at 4:20am, operating on Fridays and Sundays.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines shared the flight schedule along with booking and contact details through its official channels, confirming the return of regular air connectivity between Dhaka and Karachi.

It is important to note that the resumption of Dhaka-Karachi flights come amid improving ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh after a prolonged period of strained relations.

Plans to restart direct flights were first announced in August last year during the visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Dhaka. The visit marked the first high-level diplomatic engagement between the two countries in more than a decade.
