Chinese automaker BYD has officially launched the 2026 BYD M9 MPV, known locally as the BYD Xia, featuring enhanced performance, advanced in-car technology, and a more luxurious cabin.

The seven-seat model now starts at 206,800 yuan (around Rs8,147,569), with limited-time trade-in incentives reducing the price to 196,800 yuan(around Rs7,753,586).

BYD M9 plug-in hybrid MPV features

The 2026 M9 utilises BYD's fifth-generation DM plug-in hybrid system and will be offered in four trims: two standard versions with a 100-km pure-electric range and two long-range versions with a 218 km range, a slight improvement from 180 km in its predecessor.

The vehicle will offer a total range of 1,163 km, and its fuel economy has improved to 4.9-5.0 L/100 km from a larger Blade battery.

The design of the M9 remains the same, with a dragon-scale-inspired grille and full-width LED light bar. The premium trims will add roof-mounted lidar and new colour options such as Ink Bamboo Green, Glazed Purple-Gold, and Moon Shadow Black-Gold.

The spacious 2+2+3 seat layout includes massaging and ventilated front seats, reclining second-row captain’s chairs, and a power-foldable third-row seat. Cargo capacity expands to 2,036 litres.

Other indoor features include a 15.6-inch DiLink 150 infotainment system, a voice-controlled AI system with DeepSeek, and a 26-inch W-HUD in the higher trims.

Optional features include a passive passenger display, a 12.3-inch passenger display, a 15.6-inch rear entertainment display, 28-speaker Dolby Atmos audio, and a 50-watt wireless charger.

The M9's comfort and safety features include BYD's DiSus-C predictive suspension, TBC for tire-burst control, and VTOL external power output. A 1.5T engine (115 kW) pairs with a 200 kW electric motor, accelerating 0–100 km/h in 8.1–8.5 seconds.
