To the delight of artificial intelligence (AI) freaks, ChatGPT and Sora were reportedly back up online after undergoing a brief outage on Thursday.

According to The Tech Portal, both the AI tools were affected by a widespread disruption, making users worldwide unable to access them.

The publication reported that the outage started at around 11:00am PT, lasting a few hours before coming into a stable state.

“Most of ChatGPT, the API, and Sora have been down for a couple of hours and we’re sorry for the trouble this is causing. We’ve identified the issue and have started recovery. We hope to be back asap,” stated OpenAI in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Data shared by the outage tracking website Downdetector showed that 88% of complaints were lodged about issues with ChatGPT, whereas 8% pointed to malfunctioning with OpenAI’s website.

The downtime in the landscape of AI marked accessibility issues at a global scale for users attempting to interact with ChatGPT, with many users encountering failure to load the chatbot or error messages such as “internal server errors.”

Other accounts of ChatGPT under blackout were when users were able to use the AI chatbot but to no avail, as their prompts remained unprocessed.
