Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is getting a VR version, bringing the iconic strategy game to Meta Quest headsets this spring.

Civilization VII VR edition will offer an exciting experience, allowing players to build and expand their empires in a unique way.

The game will be available for Quest 3 and 3S, but the exact release date and pricing details are yet to be announced by the company.

Civilization VII VR coming to Meta Quest

The VR edition of Civilization VII features a unique “board game-like construction” style. Players can see their civilisations projected into their physical space using the Quest’s passthrough cameras or play in a virtual museum setting with scenic backgrounds. This allows players to switch between modes based on their preference.

In multiplayer mode, players will experience an interactive setup where opponents appear around a digital table as their chosen leaders.

Meta describes the game as a “true Civ experience,” with all the core gameplay elements of the series. Players can select any leader to guide their civilisation, a new feature introduced in Civilization VII.

Civilization VII VR with Faster gameplay and customisable speed

Since VR gaming sessions can be shorter, Civilization VII VR edition will have a default faster pace compared to its PC and console counterparts. However, players will have the option to adjust the speed to match their playstyle.

Furthermore, the official launch is expected this spring, and more details should arrive soon. Stay tuned for further updates on Civilization VII VR and its release on Meta Quest.
