Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the iconic 2009 shooter game, could soon be available on Xbox Game Pass. Renowned for its intense campaign and fast-paced multiplayer, the game is reportedly slated for release on the service in March or April 2025.
According to XboxEra, Microsoft is considering adding the original Modern Warfare 2 to its Game Pass lineup. This would make it the third Call of Duty title on the platform.
This move follows the addition of Modern Warfare 3 in 2023 and the upcoming Black Ops 6.
However, the company has not yet confirmed whether this version will be content-complete, as Activision has not confirmed whether multiplayer will be included.
Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard in 2023 opened doors for more Call of Duty games on Game Pass. Last year, Modern Warfare 3 was added to the subscription, followed by Black Ops 6, which became the first in the franchise to launch on Game Pass on day one.
Now fans are hopeful that another classic Call of Duty games will be added.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Xbox Game Pass availability
Activision has a history of announcing new Call of Duty titles in April or May, so the rumoured Game Pass release of Modern Warfare 2 might align with the reveal of the next entry in the franchise.
If Microsoft decides to release Modern Warfare 2 on Game Pass between March and April, March seems more likely, given the already crowded lineup of major Game Pass releases in April.
