FromSoftware, the renowned developer behind the Elden Ring series, has announced that a much-anticipated feature—two-player cooperative mode—will be added to Elden Ring Nightreign in an upcoming patch.

Scheduled for release on July 30, the update will improve the gameplay experience by allowing players to join forces with a single friend in "Duo Expeditions."

The upcoming patch will allow players more options for how they want to play, which is a major change from the game's current multiplayer setup, which allows solo or three-player play.

Game director Junya Ishizaki admitted in a previous interview with IGN that the exclusion of a two-player mode was a misstep during development.

Initially, the design team opted against it due to concerns about game balance. However, Ishizaki confirmed that the developers have now found a way to implement the feature without compromising the game’s core mechanics.

Additionally, it is anticipated that the two-player mode will be well received by the gaming community, especially by players who have had trouble forming a three-person group for cooperative play.

The upcoming patch will also bring two-player mode along with improvements to the game's UI, including more options for filtering Relics.
