Epic Games Store has been planned for some time now. Even though Apple and, to some extent, Google tried their best to prevent it from happening, Epic actually won. Now, the company has decided to start talking about the store, which means that it is going to launch at any moment.
Epic Games decided to post about the new Epic Games Store on Twitter. Even though it is just a teaser at the moment, we at least know that this digital storefront is coming, so we are going to see when it becomes available. The store will be available on both Android and iOS. This is what the company said:
"Same fair terms, available to all developers, on a true multi-platform store — with amazing games for everyone."
Now, it is pretty evident that with the Epic Games Store, the developers are going to get some fair revenue split. At the moment, the EGS on the desktop has an 88/12% revenue split where the developers get to keep 88% of the revenue while the store keeps 12%. We can expect something similar with the mobile store as well.
This is definitely an exciting news for all the mobile gamers. As far as the games are concerned, we are hoping some original IPs from Epic do show up on the Epic Games Store. Not only that, I also consider this to be a very big victory for the company.
As someone who has been keeping up to date with all the happenings between Epic, Google, and Apple, this definitely is something that Epic deserves. Especially when you look into all the trials that the company has gone through.
