Aiming to ensure smooth and simplified taxation processes for taxpayers nationwide, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched ePayment 2.0 at its IRIS 2.0 portal.
In a statement issued on Wednesday regarding the new payment creation system, the government-led tax-management institution said the new system is designed to provide taxpayers with secure, efficient, and user-friendly online payments from their bank accounts leveraging e-banking.
What is FBR's ePayment 2.0?
The statement added that the establishment of such a tax payment system will ultimately eliminate taxpayers' intermittent, physical bank visits, enabling them to pay taxes straight from ATMs and mobile banking.
The launch of ePayment 2.0 marks a notable accomplishment in Pakistan's taxation space, which has for years relied on paper-based tax filing.
The system catalyses the revenue management for the federal law enforcement agency, including Income Tax, Sales Tax, Federal Excise Duty, and Withholding Taxes.
Prior to the ePayment 2.0 going live, users depended on a separate ePayment system apart from the IRIS 2.0, which required switching between portals. This is one of the tax-oriented miseries in which ePayment 2.0 has come to wither away.
Under the ePayment 2.0 system, the FBR has incorporated a unified and improved user interface (UI) that taxpayers can directly access from within IRIS 2.0, allowing both registered and unregistered taxpayers to fetch a unique Payment Slip ID (PSID).
After payment completion, a computerized payment receipt (CPR) is sent to the user via email and SMS, providing official confirmation.
