The Punjab government has officially expanded the CM Free Wi-Fi initiative to 23 districts of the province, enhancing the internet connectivity for the people.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has spearheaded an initiative to provide free high-speed internet access in public areas, bridging the digital divide and fostering a more connected community.

According to the Safe City Authority spokesperson, free Wi-Fi service has been made available at 442 locations across Lahore. “So far, over 58.04 million users have consumed 1,191 terabytes of data through the service.”

Moreover, the “CM Free Wi-Fi” initiative has also been extended to 23 districts of Punjab, where free internet is now accessible at 952 key public locations.

It is worth noting that the "CM Free Wi-Fi” initiative has been introduced to support emergency use and essential needs, not for video streaming or entertainment, according to the officials.

Previously, Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi announced that they would provide free Wi-Fi service at the Punjab railway station.

Abbasi revealed that the Punjab government has committed an investment of Rs350 billion to modernise eight branch railway routes across the province.

“40 railway stations in Punjab are set to be equipped with free Wi-Fi services.”

With the expansion of free Wi-Fi service, the provincial government aims to provide free internet access to residents in urban and rural areas, ensuring equal opportunities for all.
