Germany and the United States (US) have introduced new changes to their visa processes for Pakistani applicants. The German Consulate in Karachi has adjusted its passport collection timings for Ramadan, while the US Embassy has updated its online visa appointment system.
Here are all the details about the changes announced by Germany and US for visa applicants in Pakistan:
Germany’s new passport collection timings
To accommodate applicants fasting during Ramadan, the German Consulate in Karachi has revised its passport collection hours. From now until March 31, applicants can collect their passports from 1:30pm to 2:30pm, Monday to Thursday. The consulate will return to regular hours after Eidul-Fitr.
However, this change aligns with the common practice of adjusting working hours during Ramadan in Pakistan. Many businesses and government offices shorten their timings to make it easier for people observing the holy month.
US Embassy updates visa appointment system
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Pakistan has changed how visa appointments are scheduled. Now, applicants must create an online profile before they can book an appointment. This step aims to streamline the process and make it more secure.
The change comes as reports suggest that the Trump administration may introduce new travel restrictions on several countries, including Pakistan. While no official announcement has been made, experts believe that stricter entry rules could be on the way for Pakistani visa applicants.
