Google has expanded the integration of Gemini AI into its email service, Gmail, with the rollout of the “Smart Replies” feature for Android and iOS users.

Earlier, with the Gemini integration, the Alphabet-owned company unveiled AI-powered summaries for long email threads and a smarter search experience.

Here’s how Smart Replies on Gmail works

The contextual Smart Replies feature, first announced at the Google I/O 2024, can analyse the context of an email and suggest suitable replies for having conversations on Gmail’s mobile apps for Android and iPhone users.

After processing the email's content, Gmail displays three relevant responses at the bottom, with each of them slightly different from one another.

Users can also long-press each response to get a quick preview of the text. Tapping on a suggestion will open it into another window, from where one can further edit it.

The feature started to roll out on Thursday, September 26; however, Google noted that it might take a few weeks, approximately 15 days, to be fully available for everyone.

Currently, the Smart Replies feature only supports the English language and will be available to paid tiers, including the Google One AI Premium, Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, and Education Premium.
