Google has officially unveiled a standalone Gemini app for iOS, marking a significant step towards making its AI capabilities accessible to a wider range of devices.

The advanced AI assistant aims to compete with the phone's other AI capabilities such as Apple Intelligence and OpenAI’s ChatGPT and is now available for free in the App Store in 35 languages to iOS users worldwide.

Senior Director of Product Management for Gemini Experiences, Brian Marquardt stated: “We’re launching a dedicated Gemini app for iPhone. Now, you’ll be able to have easy access to Google’s personal AI assistant, right on your iPhone, free of charge.”

Earlier, available through the Google app and web browsers, Gemini now offers iPhone users a dedicated platform to interact with its features, an ability that Android already possesses.

Google Gemini in iOS includes various AI capabilities such as a conversational AI experience and Gemini Live that allow users to have human-like conversations with the chatbot.

Gemini Live on the iOS app appears as a sparkle icon at the bottom-right corner, next to the microphone and camera icons.

The chatbot is available in 12 languages, including English, Spanish, French, and Hindi with plans to expand language support further.

However, to stay in line with ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode, users can personalise Gemini’s voice by choosing from 10 distinct options.
