Google Maps has officially launched an update, aiming to provide electric vehicle (EV) owners with a better experience while making trip planning more seamless than ever.

Alphabet-owned tech giant said that with improved battery predictions and smarter trip planning, this new feature is set to make long-distance driving easier for EV owners. Google Maps update is available for over 350 Android Auto-compatible EV models, Google’s latest update offers enhanced navigation options for a stress-free driving experience.

What's new in Google Maps?

Google Maps will now consider a range of factors, such as route elevation, weather conditions, and traffic patterns, to help drivers plan their trips with greater precision. This ensures that EV drivers can avoid unnecessary charging stops and make the most out of their battery charge.

EV drivers can now easily opt the best routes based on their current battery levels. The app will not only suggest the optimal route but also highlight the nearest charging stations and provide estimated arrival times.

This new feature eliminates the guesswork and helps drivers manage their journeys more effectively. Google, in a blog post, said: "To deliver accurate battery predictions for hundreds of vehicles, we combine AI with advanced energy models that analyse car details — like weight and battery size — alongside Maps’ real-time information about traffic, road elevation and weather."
