Google has begun rolling out the Android 15 May security patch to its Pixel devices, including the new Pixel 9 series.

The patch introduces crucial security updates and resolves microphone, Bluetooth, and settings display problems.

Google Android 15 update

This update is one of the regular Android updates by Google to keep Pixel phones secure and silky. It's being rolled out to a big list of models like the Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8, and Pixel 9 lineups, plus the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold.

Interestingly, a total of 50 Android security vulnerabilities have been addressed in this patch, one (CVE-2025-27363) of which has potentially been exploited in limited targeted attacks.

The May 2025 Android update corrects a microphone issue where the recorded voice was too soft in apps such as WhatsApp.

It also corrects a Bluetooth problem where some smartwatches were not pairing properly. Another correction alters the text in Quick Settings.

Moreover, some users were being displayed "Torch" or "Aeroplane mode" instead of the more commonly known "Flashlight" or "Aeroplane mode".

Following are the devices that have been affected:

  • Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a

  • Pixel 8, 8 Pro, 8a
  • Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold, 9a
