As an outcome of its aggressive strides in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), Google has released three new Gemini models in a bid to move towards the Gemini 2.0 model. 

Google has launched Gemini 1.5 Flash-8B — a toned-down and lighter version of the Gemini 1.5 — alongside a “significantly improved” Gemini 1.5 Flash and a “stronger” Gemini 1.5 Pro model.

The expansion of Gemini variants adds to the diversity of tiers available for the Google-owned generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) flagship tools. 

Google claims that these models bring performance enhancements to surpass various internal benchmarks, outlining “huge gains” with 1.5 Flash across the board and a 1.5 Pro, an unmatched tool to best handle math, coding and complex queries.
