The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has issued a warning about a scam involving Google Maps' location of the Regional Passport Office in Islamabad’s G-10 sector, a move to protect citizens against fraud.
The department alerted the public that a scammer had deceived people by adding fictitious personal contact information, such as a phone number and email address, to the Google Maps listing.
The DGIP claims that the scammer has been requesting money from bank accounts and JazzCash without a formal authorisation.
The authority made it clear that no one is allowed to use personal channels to collect money on behalf of the passport office.
The public has been warned to remain vigilant and refrain from disclosing private information to strangers.
The DGIP cautioned the public, saying, "Beware: Do not share your personal information or make any payments to such individuals."
He further advised following @dgipofficial on social media or going to its website at "http://www.dgip.gov.pk" for official updates and information.
Citizens are encouraged to contact the DGIP Helpline at 051-111-344-777 for verified and accurate information regarding any official enquiries or assistance.
