GTA (Grand Theft Auto) 6 is set to be the next big phenomenon in the gaming space, as evident from the game’s release trailer on YouTube, which gained more than 190 million views. However, the GTA 6 official release is still unclear.
There have been many new updates and findings since GTA 6 was announced. Gadinsider has all the details about GTA 6, like the game’s release date, storyline, map information, offered platforms, expected price, and much more.
GTA 6 storyline
GTA 6 is expected to follow a similar plot to that of previous iterations in which the lead characters will gratify in crimes and illegal activities like robbery and money heists.
As a result, the law will be after them for causing havoc. While this is just a small glimpse from the trailer, the actual storyline may feature way more than that.
GTA 6 announcement
Rockstar Games uploaded the Grand Theft Auto 6 announcement trailer on November 8, 2023. Moreover, Rockstar Games shared the announcement message through its official website and social media accounts.
GTA 6 leaks
A massive gameplay leak of GTA 6 happened on September 18, 2023. This leak unveiled more than 90 videos, pictures, and screenshots related to the game. It also gave us a first glimpse at the lead female character who can be seen wandering around in an open space.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Rockstar Games confirmed that a network intrusion had taken place and an unauthorised party compromised the game developer’s systems.
Moreover, the message promised a proper introduction to the game which later came as part of the release trailer in December 2023.
GTA 6 main characters
The forthcoming GTA 6 title is expected to have two main characters one of which will be a female protagonist. This is the first time a GTA game will include a female character in a lead role.
- Lucia (confirmed female lead): Lucia is a convict who may have committed several crimes with the help of her companion, Jason, the other lead in the story.
- Jason (rumoured to be Lucia’s partner): The character wasn’t named in the trailer, but the leaks indicated the male character with Lucia could be called Jason. It seems like Jason will assist Lucia commit crimes such as looting shops and robbery and going on missions together.
Other than these two, we see many characters in the launch trailer including a prison counsellor who is rumoured to be called Stefani. She is seen talking to Lucia in a prison office at the start of the video. A Joker-like character, which resembles a real-life Joker based out of Miami is also seen cutting into the trailer.
GTA 6 graphics and environment
Rockstar Games' next title in the Grand Theft Auto series will feature breathtaking visuals and graphics. GTA 6 will be built on GTA V’s evergreen graphics and impressive attention to detail in the environment.
The devs over at Rockstar could also take different cues from 2018’s popular hit, Red Dead Redemption 2, to make the environment livelier with specific detailing put into the objects.
TA 6 could feature tons of flora and fauna along with very dynamic weather conditions that may be more noticeable than ever compared to the previous iterations.
GTA 6 map and locations
GTA 6 is to be set in the state of Leonida (a fictional parody of Florida), as confirmed by the game’s landing page. Within Leonida, Vice City could play an essential part in the plot which is a fictional city based in Miami, Florida. The game will feature many real-life locations present in Miami.
Apart from that, just like GTA San Andreas, there could be many cities other than Vice City which players can explore and carry out missions. These cities could be connected through bridges and highways.
The game could feature tons of locations and places which players can visit and interact with like clubs, beaches, luxury apartments, dockyards, neighbourhood shops, and many others, as shown in the trailer.
According to GTAForums, a site dedicated to covering Grand Theft Auto news and leaks unveiled that the map of GTA 6 could be three times larger than GTA 5, which was massive.
GTA 6 release date
Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, confirmed that GTA 6 is all set to be launched in the fall of 2025 during its earnings call on May 2024. GTA 6 will land on gaming consoles first and then on PCs a year later, as hinted by an ex-Rockstar Games developer.

Earlier, the details on its release timeline were unclear as the launch trailer, released on December 5, 2023, on YouTube didn’t provide concrete details on the release apart from mentioning 2025 as the game’s launch year.
Platforms compatible with GTA 6
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be launched on Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X/S. A PC version of the game could be made available a year later, as hinted by an ex-Rockstar Games developer.
GTA 6 expected price
As the GTA 6 release is still far off, Rockstar Games will most likely reserve the pricing details for the last. Gamers can expect a price markup over GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, meaning the next open-world title from Rockstar Games can cost upwards of USD 59.99 (INR 4,993).
