Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is the next entry in Rockstar Games’ blockbuster open-world action series, known for its crime-driven story, massive maps, and record-breaking sales.
As excitement around the GTA 6 release continues to grow, fans are also worried about one big question: how much will the game cost?
GTA 6 price (expected)
Rockstar North's Former Technical Director Obbe Vermeij has stated that GTA 6 will not retail for $100 despite being the most costly video game ever produced.
In an interview for GamesHub, Vermeij has dismissed any notion of Rockstar intending to price Grand Theft Auto 6 unusually high. He has stated that the firm has signalled nothing about deviating from the norm for AAA titles when it comes to pricing.
Reportedly, some analysts are predicting that the game will cost between $80 and $100. Vermeij thinks that Rockstar will price GTA 6 at the “regular price” and make up for it by providing some form of online content.
However, Vermeij also noted that the development costs for GTA 6 are probably higher than any previous game. The development costs have reportedly reached a level that could go up to $2 billion.
However, he indicates that because it is a globally popular franchise, Rockstar does not have to increase the base game price if it is to turn a profit.
Although Rockstar Games has yet to officially announce GTA 6 Online, leaks show that it has already reached an advanced state of development, just like GTA Online, which could bring profit to Rockstar Games for years to come through patches, subscriptions, and microtransactions.
