In a move aimed at regaining its position in the already swelled-up automotive market of China, Honda is collaborating with Huawei to revamp its electric vehicles (EVs).

However, this partnership aims to boost Honda vehicles’ sales by incorporating Huawei’s advanced, intelligent driving systems into its new electric SUVs, including the Ye S7 and Ye P7.

Honda’s new electric SUVs for China

The Ye brand, created exclusively for China, was to be released in 2024 but faced delays due to concerns from Japanese investors about the technology and marketing strategies.

However, to address these issues and make their vehicle more appealing, Honda has looked to Huawei’s intelligent driving systems which have made waves in the industry.

Among them are features such as Navigation Cruise Assist, or NCA, allowing seamless parking-to-parking navigation.

Moreover, this collaboration is a significant step for Honda in its quest for success in the Chinese EV market, while Huawei’s system will power the initial Ye models. Honda plans to integrate its own Honda Sensing 360+ system in the future, showing its commitment to developing in-house intelligent technologies.

Honda's sales have experienced a slump in recent years, and most of that can be attributed to the rapidly growing intelligent EV demand in the market.

Notably, previous efforts with e:N did not yield the desired results, but it has taken on this move to try to revive the Chinese business for Honda through its Ye brand. The Ye S7 and Ye P7, developed by a young and innovative R&D team, feature a 40-inch augmented reality heads-up display (AR-HUD) and high-capacity batteries for extended range.
