The Elon Musk-owned electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Tesla claimed on Saturday that it has brought about a beneficial end to the lawsuit it lodged against arch-rival Rivian.

The case involved the automotive company poaching Tesla employees to illicitly obtain trade secrets of the Musk-led EV company.

Tesla Rivian case settled

Citing a Bloomberg report, TechCrunch reported that Tesla notified a California judge that both the petitioner and the accused parties reached a “conditional” settlement as it looks forward to dismissing the lawsuit by December 24.

The lawsuit was filed over a decade back in 2010 and was slated to proceed to trial in March 2025, wherein the Musk-owned EV company accused Rivian of hiring Tesla employees at an “alarming pattern” on the condition of bringing the company's confidential information to the table before joining.

Responding to the lawsuit, Rivian filed a counter-petition nullifying the claims made by Tesla in its lawsuit, stating that it was an “improper and malicious attempt to slow” Rivian’s pace and to discourage Tesla employees willing to ditch the company.
