If you're seeking ways to change your current or permanent address on your Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), don't worry, the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has made it very simple for citizens in Pakistan.

The authority stated: "When an applicant comes to the Nadra office to change address on CNIC, the first thing the applicant does is take the token.

"With that token, their documentation is checked," added Nadra.

There are two types of addresses on CNIC, which includes:

  • Temporary address
  • Permanent address.

The documentation required for changing the current address include

  • A rent agreement.
  • The statement can be shortened, and the address of the sibling, spouse, or parents' card can be updated accordingly.

Similarly, when the permanent address has to be changed, an affidavit can also be made for that. On the basis of the affidavit, the owner will provide the original registry.

"Apart from this, if they have any property in their name, then they can get the permanent address changed on that, too. Utility bills are also included.

On your turn, applicants have to go to the Nadra representative, where the process will begin. Your biometric verification will take place.

  • Your picture will be clicked.
  • Once it's done, the data entry steps will start.
  • When all the required information is input into the system, a printed form will be given to the applicant on which "our one window operator will write the applicant's remarks.
  • The operator will embrace the stamp on the form.
  • After taking the form, the applicant needs to go to the approval OIC, who verifies it.
  • After completion of the process and approval, applicant needs to submit all the required documents, which include the form, the address papers, and the documents on which the address is to be changed.
  • Nadra thoroughly scans all the documents on their system and returns all the documents to you.

Remember that through the token, applicants can make their online payment of fees via any medium like Jazzcash, Easypaisa, E-Sahulat, Raast, debit/credit card.

Moreover, based of that token, when CNIC is made after one month, after 15 days, or after seven days, applicants have to come and receive their card by showing the same token.

Nadra noted that citizens can also process their application easily from the comfort of their home through the Pak-ID mobile application.
