Huawei is stirring up excitement among phone enthusiasts with a mysterious new phone registration programme. The Chinese tech giant, still under US sanctions, is allowing customers to register for information about an upcoming smartphone but hasn't revealed any details about it.

This comes after their well-received Mate 60 series launch last year, which some credit for hurting iPhone sales in China.

Speculation points to the upcoming phone being the P70, expected to follow the Mate 60's trend of featuring an advanced Chinese-made chip. The P series is known for its sleek design and powerful cameras, while the Mate series focuses on performance and business features.

While fans were disappointed at a recent Huawei launch event that focused on laptops and smart cars, the phone registration program has rekindled anticipation.

However, analysts warn that supply chain constraints may limit availability, similar to what happened with the Mate 60 launch.
