As part of the government's significant efforts to equip youth with the most sought-after IT skills, Chinese technology giant Huawei has announced to train 300,000 Pakistanis in IT skills by the end of 2025.

Huawei CEO Ethan Sun, accompanied by a five-member delegation, briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the initiative, which seeks to empower Pakistani youth with in-demand digital competencies.

The prime minister reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing job opportunities and boosting IT exports by providing training in various technology-oriented fields, Business Recorder reported.

Underscoring the importance of public-private collaboration in addressing economic woes, he highlighted that the programme serves as a crucial investment in the future workforce.

Huawei’s ICT training programme is expected to generate employment opportunities and contribute significantly to Pakistan’s IT exports. Under the initiative, 240,000 individuals will receive basic IT training, while 60,000 will be provided advanced technical training, with completion targeted by year-end.

To ensure high standards, third-party validation will be conducted for the training programmes.

It's worth mentioning that in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Huawei has also introduced courses in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, Big Data, and Cybersecurity across 15 Pakistani universities.
